BACKGROUND

My artistic imagination has taken me from designing drapes to wedding gowns, quilting, drawing, watercolours, acrylics ... and for the past 10 years creating touchable and wearable art by painting on silk. 

ADVENTURES IN SILK

Painting on silk never stops being a challenge and fascinating making time fly.   The creativity that happens is exciting and rewarding when the final project appears from the non-toxic dyes being steam-set!

Work in Process

Drawing with "resist" to hold the dye from spreading

Suspending the silk in a frame to get ready to paint so the dye doesn't move further than the lines.

Now the exciting part, painting with dye to create your art. 

Leaving the dye to cure for a couple days before steaming, making sure the colours adhere to the silk fibres.

After steaming ... you have a dye-set fabric ready for designing and creating your touchable art.
